About Us
The future of our world belongs to the next generation. Because it Takes a Village is committed to changing the future of our world by changing the future of the next generation, one village at a time.
Many children in South Africa don’t have access to basic pre-school education. Without access to pre-school, they can’t learn the basics skills, like English that is required to enter the educational stream. The result is that kids stay out of school and in the endless cycle of poverty, crime, hunger and despair.
By sponsoring children in pre-school, Because it Takes a Village interrupts that cycle at its source, changing the future for every child enrolled. If we can begin to educate the youth and grow solid foundations from as early as possible, we can in fact, change the children’s future and in turn the future of the world.
A group of dedicated volunteers, the organization is committed that any expenses are sponsored, therefore, one hundred percent of the money donated goes directly to the children.
Zanele Shange, village resident and founder of a Pre-School in rural Zwelimbovu, said:
“I always used to think someone should do something to help make a difference, then I realized, I was someone.”
“A simple act of caring creates an endless ripple.”

About Wayne
In March of 2017, Wayne visited the Uminathi Creche (a preschool) in the village of Zwelibomvu, in rural South Africa. The purpose of the visit was to bring donations to the small Creche. As they drove away, they saw many children not in school. After inquiring why, the children weren’t in school, they were told that those families couldn’t afford the modest tuition fee.
When they returned home, they committed to rally their communities to help change the future of a village.
